Repair Café - next sessison: 16 November 2024, 10:00-13:00

On International Repair Day, 19th October 2024, it was the 15th anniversary of the International Repair Café movement. Hadfield Repair Café celebrated as part of our regular, monthly session with a quiz and a free brew and a slice of birthday cake Next month we're back to our normal session. No need to book in advance - just turn up with your item(s) any time between 10:00am-12:30pm.

Over the last year we have had a wide variety of items in for repair, most of which we were able to fix (and just a few that were either broken beyond mending or needing equipment we don't have). Here are some of the items we've repaired:

  • Chair and other small furniture items;
  • Bicycles;
  • Some electric lamps;
  • Various electric items such as sewing machines, vacuum cleaners, hedge trmmer, toasters, etc.
  • A couple of laptops;
  • Game controllers;
  • A music stand;
  • Lots of items for sewing;
  • Various items needing gluing including spectacles, ceramics, wooden ornaments and plastic items;
  • Sharpening knives, secateurs, shears and chisels.

At our last session in September, we carried out repairs on items including several table lamps, a CD player, a HiFi system, a range of sewing, assembly of the handle on a new lawn mower, and several items to sharpen.

We will meet on the third Saturday of each month. Repairs will be available for:

  • Clothing and fabrics;
  • Small electrical items;
  • Mechanical items;
  • Electronics including computers;
  • Small items of furniture;
  • Bicycles;
  • Tool sharpening (knives, scissors, chisels, shears, etc.).

We will also look at any other items but cannot guarantee we'll be able to repair them. Note that the time for last repairs to be accepted is 12:30pm.

Refreshments and cakes will also be available.
